Serena Liew Chun Yean started her legal practice as an advocate and solicitor in Sabah since her admission to the High Court of Malaya at Kuala Lumpur in August 2001. She was later admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak at Kota Kinabalu in June 2002.

Ever since her admission, she has been actively engaged in civil and criminal litigation, family law, bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings, property law and many other related areas, for both institutional and individual clients.

In 2009, she established her own firm known as Messrs Serena Liew & Associates at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Ms. Serena Liew has vast experience in handling disputes between the minority and majority shareholders in relation to the Companies Act 2016 where she succeeded in overturning the High Court’s decision in the Court of Appeal and subsequently succeeded in defending her clients in the Federal Court. In 2018, she won in a criminal trial for an assigned case by the Court where the accused person faced a capital punishment if convicted.
